Starting is often the hardest part.

Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. You might be wondering whether it will actually help, or whether your situation is "serious enough" to talk about. It is — and you don't need to have it all figured out before you get in touch.

My approach is gentle, collaborative, and honest. I won't pretend to have all the answers, and I won't try to fix you. What I can offer is a quiet, non-judgemental space to make sense of what you're going through and work out what might help next.

How I can help

I work with adults across a range of common concerns. If what you're dealing with isn't listed, please feel free to get in touch anyway — chances are we can still have a useful conversation.

  • Anxiety

Worry, panic, overthinking, and the kind of low-level tension that never quite switches off.

  • Depression

Low mood, loss of motivation, and that flat, heavy feeling that's hard to describe.

  • Grief & loss

Bereavement, and the many other kinds of loss that don't always get named.

  • Trauma

Past experiences that still show up in how you feel, think, or relate to others today.

  • Infidelity & relationships

Working through betrayal, trust, and the complicated feelings that come with it.

  • Life challenges

Transitions, burnout, identity questions, and the everyday things that quietly wear you down.

  • Clinical supervision

Reflective, supportive supervision for fellow practitioners.

How I work

I draw on a handful of well-established therapy approaches and choose what fits best for you. In plain language, that looks like:

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
Noticing the thoughts and habits that keep us stuck, and gently trying different ones.
DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy)
Practical skills for managing big emotions, stress, and difficult relationships.
Person-centred therapy
Starting with you — your pace, your values, your own sense of what matters.
Schema therapy
Understanding long-standing patterns, especially those that go back a long way.
EMDR
A structured approach that can help the nervous system process difficult memories.

I work by phone and secure video only, which means you can meet with me from home, from your car, or from anywhere quiet in Australia where you feel comfortable.

A few things people often wonder

Will counselling actually help?

Honestly, it depends — on what you're working through, on timing, and on the fit between us. For many people it makes a real difference. The best way to find out is usually to have a first conversation and see how it feels.

How many sessions will I need?

There's no fixed number. Some people come for a few sessions to work through something specific; others stay longer. We'll talk about what you're hoping for early on and keep checking in.

I just want someone to fix this for me.

That's a completely understandable feeling, especially when things are hard. I can't promise a quick fix, but I can walk alongside you while you figure out what helps — and that's often more useful than it sounds.

Is it confidential?

Yes. What we talk about stays between us, within the standard legal and ethical limits that apply to all registered psychologists in Australia.

Medicare & private health rebates

You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate under a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, or a rebate through your private health fund. It's worth checking before your first session — if you're not sure, just ask and I'll point you in the right direction.

Cancellations

Life happens, and sometimes appointments need to change. I simply ask for at least 24 hours' notice where possible, so the time can be offered to someone else. Late cancellations or missed sessions may incur a fee.
